Eric is a multimedia journalist who is experienced with creating content in all forms of media.
Currently, Eric is the national syndication editor for Global News, managing relationships with various revenue-generating partners.
Prior to that, he was the first member of the national social desk at Global News and stayed on that team for over two years. His contributions on the roll-out strategy for an investigative series, Canada's #ToxicSecret, helped Global win Gold for Best Social Storytelling at the 2018 Digital Publishing Awards.
He has also been a judge in the social media category for the JHM Awards.
Previously, he worked for two years at J-Source as a reporter/editor — including a 6-week stint as associate editor — where he: live-blogged events; wrote and edited pieces; produced videos; co-ordinated with editors across the country; managed social media; and put together weekly e-newsletters.
Eric quickly developed his videography, management, and assignment-editing skills as co-director of the campus newscast (RUtv News). He earned his chops at the station as a reporter and camera operator.
His work has appeared in PBS MediaShift, the Tyee, the Eyeopener, Ryerson Free Press, the Bluffs Monitor and MyTownCrier — along with being cited by Mashable and the Centre for Research on Globalization.
In 2014, Eric was selected along with 11 fellow Canadian students to attend the Canadian Military Journalism Course — put on by University of Calgary’s Centre for Military and Strategic Studies in association with the Canadian Defence & Foreign Affairs Institute. The experience of living on a military base among soldiers and learning how to navigate the system's hierarchy was invaluable. He's now much better prepared for media communication with the military, especially in broaching sensitive topics.
Eric Mark Do studied journalism at Ryerson University and discovered his passions in social media management and media production.
